BIIAB Level 2 Award in Security Guarding

Duration: 20.5 hours minimum contact time (26 Guided Learning Hours)

Summary

Anyone wishing to be employed as a security guard has to be in possession of a licence issued to them by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and enables a security guard to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence to practise. The BIIAB Award in Security Guarding is designed for those who wish to work in the industry and provides candidates with the basic knowledge and responsibilities of the occupation. The qualification, which is endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual, is awarded on successful completion of three units:

  • Working in the Private Security Industry
  • Working as a Security Officer
  • Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry

This qualification, which is worth 4 credits, follows the SIA’s new specification and the unitised structure reduces overlap between subject areas making it easier for learners to gain qualifications for additional sectors (CCTV, Door Supervision etc) as they will only need to sit the additional units.
